Who we are

Piambong is being developed by Vestas, one of the most experienced wind energy providers globally. Vestas will design, supply, construct and maintain the wind farm for the life of the Project.

As the largest wind energy company in the world, Vestas develops, designs, manufactures, constructs, and services wind farms across the world. With 29,000 employees, Vestas has installed almost 88,000 turbines (+166 GW), which accounts for almost 19% of the total worldwide installed capacity, in 88 countries in the past 40+ years. Vestas, one of the experienced wind energy providers, has also recently been awarded the title of most sustainable company in the world.

Furthermore, Vestas service and maintain almost 88,000 turbines (+166,000 MW) in 88 countries around the world. To increase sustainability, Vestas is working actively in the development of composite recycling technologies to achieve our goal of zero-waste wind turbines by 2040. By ‘zero waste’, we mean preventing all waste and developing a circular economy for all materials, including the carbon cycle.

Vestas has been active in Australia since 2001 and employs more than 800 staff in Australia and New Zealand. In Australia, Vestas is operating 59 wind farms which is about 49% market installed capacity, constructing 7 wind farms currently and has installed 2177 wind turbines in total.

As a big part of its global business, Vestas has set up its dedicated wind power development team majoring in greenfield wind farm and hybrid (wind plus storage) project development in Australia. To date, Vestas Development Australia has established a 4 GW wind project portfolio across Australia.
