NSW Government endorses Piambong Wind Farm via Investment Delivery Authority

The NSW Government has endorsed Piambong Wind Farm as a priority project for delivery under the Investment Delivery Authority (IDA).

Piambong Wind Farm is one of 16 projects selected for support in NSW, reflecting its strategic importance and readiness.

The Government established the IDA to identify and support major projects across New South Wales by improving coordination across government agencies and helping proponents navigate planning and regulatory processes.

Piambong’s selection signals that the Project aligns with Government’s priorities, has demonstrated merit against clear criteria, and is considered important to Australia’s energy transition goals.

Piambong Wind Farm is one of 14 renewable energy projects selected in the first tranche of IDA support, and the only project in the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone. Its endorsement reflects the Project’s importance to NSW’s economy and transition to renewable energy.

The IDA is not a funding program and Piambong Wind Farm will not receive Government funding of any kind towards its development. Additionally, endorsement through the IDA does not replace statutory approvals. Piambong Wind Farm must still complete full merit-based assessment processes and comply with relevant state and Commonwealth legislation.

About the IDA

The IDA’s focus is on enhancing coordination across government and identifying opportunities to resolve constraints that may otherwise delay project delivery.

IDA support may include:

  • a single point of contact to coordinate engagement with relevant NSW Government agencies
  • wholeofgovernment problemsolving across state, local and Australian jurisdictions to address issues such as infrastructure connections, sequencing or regulatory complexity
  • early engagement to clarify requirements and minimise delays ahead of the formal planning process, supported by a dedicated planning assessment team within the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure.

Piambong Wind Farm appreciates the NSW Government’s recognition of the work completed to date and the Project’s potential to deliver positive, long‑term outcomes for the region. This acknowledgement reflects the progress made through careful planning and technical studies, the Project’s future role in supporting local employment and regional investment.

We will continue to keep the community updated on this important development for the Project.
