Vestas’ Piambong Wind Farm has presented Cudgegong Camera Club with $500 in sponsorship support for its photo display board project.
The Cudgegong Camera Club is a non-profit organisation run by volunteers with a passion for photography.
Based in Mudgee, the Club aims to broaden the photographic interests of its members and to provide education, guidance, competition and social interaction.
Recently, the Club approached Vestas seeking support for its efforts to make new photo display boards to replace the ageing ones currently in use.
“We were happy to help the Camera Club raise money for this project,” Piambong Wind Farm’s Project Manager, Matt van der Merwe, said.
“We are looking to give back to the local community in which we propose to build our wind farm by supporting organisations that positively contribute to the community’s social wellbeing.
“We understand that the Camera Club has been an important part of the community’s social fabric since 2008, attracting members of all ages and abilities, and working with other not-for-profits across the region, and this aligns with Vestas’ values.
“We hope our support helps the Club reach its fundraising target for the new display boards.”
Cudgegong Camera Club President, Col Boyd, said the Club would use the boards for its annual photography exhibition, the Sandy Smith Memorial Photo Competition & Exhibition, held in April each year.
“In addition, the boards will also be available for other organisations in the community such as the Mudgee Show Society, Mudgee Readers Festival, Mudgee Arts Council, U3A & Mudgee Performing Arts Society, to use,” he said.
“We still have a way to go in our fundraising and are grateful to Vestas’ Piambong Wind Farm for supporting us to reach our goal.”
The Club is in conversation with the Mudgee Men’s Shed, another local community organisation, to create the display boards.
